USE CASE
Give your donation form a backend
Formstork is the backend for your donation form. Point any HTML or JavaScript form at it, and every donor's details land in a searchable dashboard and your inbox, with the donor's email set as the reply-to. No server to run, no backend code to write.
How it works
A donation form collects a supporter's name, email, amount, and message, but on its own it cannot deliver any of that or tell you a gift came in. Formstork is the backend that receives the POST. Your form sends its fields to a Formstork endpoint with your access key, and Formstork emails you each donor's details, sets their email as the reply-to, and saves the submission to a searchable, taggable dashboard. Formstork captures the donation form, not the payment: it is not a payment processor, so you keep your own payment link or checkout for the actual charge. Turn on a thank-you autoresponder on a paid plan, a Slack alert, or a Google Sheets row whenever you want them.
Thank every donor right away
Every submission emails you with the donor's address set as the reply-to, so you can reply personally in one click. On a paid plan, a thank-you autoresponder sends each supporter an instant confirmation the moment they submit.
Every donor, kept and exportable
Beyond the inbox, Formstork stores each donation record in a searchable, taggable dashboard you can filter by campaign and export to CSV or JSON. Connect Airtable, Notion, or Google Sheets to keep your donor list in sync, or Mailchimp to add supporters to your audience.
The form, minus the payment plumbing
Formstork is not a payment processor, so keep your own payment link or checkout for the charge itself. Formstork captures everything around it: the donor's details, their amount, and their message, spam filtered and delivered, so nothing about a gift lives only in an email you might lose.
Set it up
- 1Add your donation form as plain HTML with fields like name, email, amount, and message, or build one in minutes with the Formstork form builder.
- 2Point the form's action at https://api.formstork.com/submit and add your access key as a hidden access_key field (or use the short /f/YOUR_ACCESS_KEY URL).
- 3Submit once to test. The donor's details land in your inbox and your Formstork dashboard, with their email set as the reply-to.
- 4Optional: add a rule to route large gifts to a different recipient, connect Slack or Google Sheets, or turn on a thank-you autoresponder (paid plans).
Frequently asked questions
How do I add a backend to my donation form?
Point your form's action at a Formstork endpoint and add your access key as a hidden field. That is the backend: Formstork receives the POST, emails you each donor's details, and stores the submission in your dashboard. No server or backend code to write.
Does Formstork process donation payments?
No. Formstork is a form backend, not a payment processor: it captures the donation form and delivers every submission, but it does not charge cards. Keep your own payment link or checkout for the actual payment and let Formstork handle the donor's details, notifications, and record keeping.
Is it free?
Yes, the free plan includes 250 submissions a month with a full dashboard, email delivery, spam filtering, integrations, and 90-day retention, no credit card. Paid plans add more volume, forever retention, thank-you autoresponders, and file uploads or attachments.
