Formstork

USE CASE

The backend for your newsletter signup form

Your HTML or JavaScript opt-in posts to Formstork, and we save every subscriber, email you, and add them to Mailchimp. No server to run, no glue code to maintain.

How it works

Formstork is the backend your newsletter form talks to. Your HTML or JavaScript opt-in posts to a Formstork endpoint with your access key, and every signup is saved to a searchable, taggable dashboard and emailed to you. Switch on the Mailchimp integration and each new subscriber is added to your audience automatically, with their name split into the FNAME and LNAME merge fields, and nothing to deploy or maintain.

Straight into Mailchimp

Connect Mailchimp once and every signup is subscribed to your audience automatically, with no Zapier and no glue code. It is an idempotent upsert keyed on email, so the same person filling the form twice updates one contact instead of creating a duplicate.

You own the list too

Every subscriber is also stored in your Formstork dashboard, searchable and taggable, and exportable to CSV or JSON. You keep the full record even if someone later unsubscribes from Mailchimp, and if Mailchimp is unreachable the subscribe is retried automatically.

Clean signups, not bots

A hidden honeypot, a smart content filter, and optional Turnstile, hCaptcha, or reCAPTCHA keep junk out of your list. On paid plans, an autoresponder sends each new subscriber a confirmation email the moment they join.

Set it up

  1. 1Add a newsletter opt-in to your site, or build one in minutes with the Formstork form builder. All it needs is an email field, plus an optional name field for friendlier sends.
  2. 2Point the form's action at https://api.formstork.com/submit and add your access key as a hidden field. No SMTP, no server code.
  3. 3Every signup now lands in your Formstork dashboard and your inbox, spam filtered before it reaches you.
  4. 4In Integrations, connect Mailchimp with your API key and Audience ID, and optionally turn on an autoresponder (paid plans) to send a confirmation email.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add a backend to my newsletter signup form?

Point the form's action at https://api.formstork.com/submit and add your access key as a hidden field. Formstork receives the POST, stores the subscriber, and emails you, with no server or backend code required. Your existing HTML form markup does not have to change.

Can I add new subscribers to Mailchimp automatically?

Yes. Connect Mailchimp in the dashboard with your API key and Audience ID, and every submission that includes an email is subscribed to your audience. Names are mapped to the FNAME and LNAME merge fields, and duplicates are handled with an idempotent upsert.

Is it free, and do I need a server?

No server, ever, because Formstork is the hosted backend. The free plan covers 250 submissions a month with 90-day retention; paid plans add more volume, forever retention, autoresponders, and file uploads. You bring your own Mailchimp account.
